This large, secluded well equipped house is for those seeking a dignified and peaceful taste of Andalucia at any time of the year. From its jasmine scented hedge around an impressive entrance to the palm shaded corner of the swimming pool. Casa la Oliva ticks every box. Sitting majestically at the top of a small development it has a natural park at its rear and looks out over unrivalled views of the Rio Barbate valley against a backdrop of distant mountains. It’s east facing aspect on the flank of the Vejer massif provides spectacular dawns and ensures that the house does not become overheated in high summer.

Having 220 square metres of built space all on one floor, every room is generous in its dimensions. The giant living area (600 square feet) is a restful blend of natural wood, rattan and soft tones. It has a fitted kitchen at one end and the seating area around an open fire at the other. The 8 seater oak dining table sits between. The traditional shelving to either side of the fireplace houses a satellite TV and a music system. Light pours in from a large sliding door which gives access on to the upper terrace level. A large utility room off the kitchen contains the washing machine, tumble drier, fridge freezer and a microwave. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher and a second refrigerator.

Three large bedrooms are reached via a wide corridor running the length of the property. Configured as two king sized doubles (one with ensuite) and one twin they are served by two large bathrooms in addition to the en suite. One bedroom has direct access to its own terrace.

La Oliva sits in two thirds of an acre of beautiful sloping gardens. The living room has direct access onto a sweeping furnished terrace fringed with geranium, lantana, rosemary, hibiscus and lavender. To the side of the terrace is a large built BBQ in keeping with the house style.

Subsidiary terraces are reached through an arch of grapevine and a floodlit path falls gently down a garden slope divided into a number of terraced lawns which feature wild olive, hibiscus, oleander and umbrella pines. Two spectacular palms bracket this path alongside the pool area, which is fully equipped with sunbeds and whose pool house has its own table and chairs. Whatever time of day it is, while the sun is up there is always a part of the gardens and terraces which is sunlit. The upper gate is the main entrance to the house with space for three large cars and its own separate woodland style garden.

It is located on a east facing slope below the town of Vejer de la Frontera with views across the valley of the Rio Barbate towards the estate of Montenmedio with mountains in the distance. Behind the house, up the hill towards Vejer, is entirely forested and a Natural Park. The charming historical centre of Vejer is just in a stone´s throw. The golf and equestrian resort of Montenmedio is approx. 10 min. by car. The beaches in 10-15 min. by car.
